My Oral Health Journey
After years of struggling with cavities I wondered where I was going wrong. I brushed, I flossed, and I ate healthy, why the heck did I always have cavities?! I decided to do some research and began to discuss my issues with my father-in-law who has been a dentist for over 35 years, and I made an interesting discovery.
What a lot of people don’t know is that most of what happens in your mouth occurs between brushings. Habits like constant snacking or sipping on coffee, tea or juice throughout the day (iced coffee was my culprit!) prolong the exposure of your mouth to sugar and acid which allows the bad bacteria to build up and thrive all day, and it takes a toll on your teeth. Even healthy food choices like dried fruit and protein bars are cavity culprits. By the time you brush in the evening you have a lot of damage that has to be undone.
So I began to wonder what I could be doing to help protect my teeth during the day. I wondered if I could give my mouth a fighting chance against cavity-causing bacteria, especially since I know “bad teeth” happened to run in my family, and since I knew I wouldn’t be giving up my iced coffee anytime soon (you feel me, mommas?!) I also realized that I took supplements for my hormones and my skin, hair and nails, and I took probiotics for my gut, but I didn’t ever think about doing more for my mouth.
As my research progressed, I learned that supporting my mouth with a probiotic that adds good bacteria and balances my oral microbiome would help me fight tooth decay and other oral diseases in a totally natural way throughout the day. It wasn’t just about killing the bad bacteria. My father-in-law and I got to work and began to develop one of the most powerful, and also one of the best tasting dental probiotics on the market. Super Teeth Dental Probiotics are that extra layer of defense our mouths need in between brushings, or when we aren’t able to brush and floss as much as we should. Or if cavities are simply something you can’t seem to beat. Our probiotic was also formulated with guidance from nutritionists and contains strains that have been clinically shown to improve oral health. Just take a look at one of the many studies listed here!
Ultimately, there’s so much more you can be doing for your mouth than just brushing and flossing. Add oral health to the list of things you take pride in on your body and you’ll wonder why you hadn’t done it sooner (like me!)
